24-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Second Deadly Crash Of Day On Same Long Island Roadway

A man sustained severe injuries, and his passenger was killed in the second deadly crash of the day on a busy Long Island roadway.

It happened on Sunday, Sept. 17 in Rockville Centre, according to Nassau County Police.

Just after 10:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was driving a 2006 MINI Cooper southbound on Peninsula Boulevard when his car veered off the road about a mile south of the Southern State Parkway, colliding with a tree.

When Nassau County Medics discovered the accident, the driver was severely injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

The passenger of the car, who police said was a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the man killed has not yet been released.

Additional information has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

It was the second deadly crash on Peninsula Boulevard in Rockville Centre on Sunday.

At around 4:25 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in a 2010 Nissan Altima died after the car, traveling southbound on Peninsula Boulevard also near the Southern State Parkway struck several trees.
